Police Searching For Purse-Snatcher in Mt. Sinai

Information wanted on man who stole a purse at a supermarket in Mt. Sinai.

Police are searching for a man who stole one woman’s purse as she shopped at the King Kullen in Mount Sinai and then attempted to steal another woman’s purse the next day as she was carrying groceries into her Mount Sinai home.

According to police, on Sept. 22 at  3 p.m. the unknown man stole the woman’s purse as she was shopping at the King Kullen. Detectives believe that he is the same person who confronted another woman at her front door at 3 p.m. the next day when she returned home from the Pathmark in Port Jefferson Station. Police said he pretended to ask for directions and then attempted to steal the woman’s purse off her shoulder.

He is described as a heavy set, white man, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing
dark pants with a grey hoodie with the word “Tapout” on the front. He was wearing a baseball cap with a dark brim, and glasses. The suspect fled in a tan, older model 4-door sedan. He is wanted for grand larceny.
