When I heard there was an open trustee seat on the Board of the North Shore Public Library, I had to throw in my hat!   The election is on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the library from 930 am - 900 pm.

The library is one of the most important public institutions in our community.  I want to help keep it accessible and valuable to everyone especially in these fiscally challenged times.  People must be ensured that they are empowered to access information to learn, enjoy and protect the things that are important to them personally and as part of a community.

I feel well suited for the job of Trustee.  I volunteer in many ways  to protect and improve our communities. I worked on budgets as a member of the Budget Advisory Committee of the SWR school district.  I served as an officer and director of the Shoreham Civic Organization.  I assisted the Town of Brookhaven in drafting the Route 25A Corridor Study.  As an attorney, I represented residents opposed to the high-density proposed Tall Grass Planned Development project that would have raised our taxes, increased traffic and pollution and destroyed our rural suburban hamlet.

Making sure the public is getting the services it deserves and is paying for is the first priority.   I have experience holding government accountable and currently represent all Suffolk taxpayers and voters in court actions to force the County Legislature to give the taxpayers their money back so it can be used to protect our drinking water; not to plug holes in the operating budget!

Come to the library on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, and make your vote count!  Please vote for Jennifer Juengst, for library trustee.
