North Shore Youth Council's Big Buddy Little Buddy/YAC Celebration

The North Shore Youth Council held their Big Buddy Little Buddy/ Youth Advisory Committee Celebration Monday night at the VFW in Rocky Point. Big Buddies and Little Buddies as well as parents got together one last time to celebrate the end of a very successful program this year!  Everyone had a great time.

The Big Buddies received certificates for all of their volunteer efforts from Senator LaValle’s office, Legislator Sarah Anker, Town Supervisor Ed Romaine, and Councilwoman Jane Bonner. NSYC would like to thank these elected officials as well as Dr. Ring and the Rocky Point School District for their continued support of our organization.

The Big Buddy Little Buddy program is a cross-age mentoring program that matches up a high school student with a younger student.  Buddies spend time together each week in a structured, fun and safe environment that is adult supervised. The Big Buddies act as positive role models for the younger children and they all have a great time doing it! The purpose of the program is to have participants engage in a variety of group activities intended to demonstrate, encourage and reinforce social competency skills.
