Anker Collecting School Supplies for Charity Program

Supplies can be dropped off at the legislators' office on Route 25A in Mt. Sinai.

Legis. Sarah Anker is asking for the public's help to help out families in need as a new school year kicks off in coming weeks.

"There are so many children in Suffolk County who attend school without the basic necessities for learning and achieving academic success,” said Anker. “Please help this worthy cause by donating supplies.”

Goods will go to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, which organizes the Backpack Pirates Summer Festival, scheduled for Aug. 27 in Riverhead. The campaign will aid nearly 1,000 underprivileged children.
