Blizzard Warning Remains In Effect Beginning Thursday, 6 p.m.

Winter storm Hercules could bring up to 10 inches of snow.

The first powerful snow storm is set to hit Long Island in only a matter of hours. However, it has already begun dumping more than a  foot of snow in some parts of the Great Lakes.

Miller Place-Rocky Point residents are preparing for Winter Storm Hercules which could not only bring up to 10 inches of snow, according to the latest Weather Channelreport, but also bring frigid temperatures Thursday night into Friday.

Currently, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is deciding whether or not he will be closing highway road services and/or county roads based on the conditions. The MTA said it will only suspend service if the third rail gets buried by at least 15 to 18 inches of snow. So if anything, the MTA will be running either a normal or suspended service.

The storm is still expected to strengthen around 6 p.m. Thursday before tapering off Friday morning.
