A bone marrow drive for Gabby Mongillo, a local one-year-old girl suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia, was held Sunday at the Rocky Point Fire House in Shoreham and helped raise money and get over 300 people swabbed as possible donors.
According to Matthew McGuire, who organized the event, the drive helped raise $480 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and thousands for the DKMS Bone Marrow Donor Center.
"We swabbed 346 people into the registry," he said in an email to Patch. "I have strong faith that we got a handful of matches...hopefully more than that."
