'Communities That Care' Blood Drive Comes To Rocky Point

American Red Cross host event for blood donors before the holiday season.

Residents of Rocky Point are partnering with the American Red Cross for a “Communities That Care” blood drive Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 6249 at 109 King Road in Rocky Point.

According to a representative from the American Red Cross, this blood drive is special because its designed to engage cities and help boost supplies with the upcoming holiday season approaching.

“By adding blood donation to Thanksgiving traditions, families can help maintain the blood supply and begin their gift giving season early,” said Kay E. Schwartz, chief executive officer, American Red Cross Blood Services – New York-Penn Region in a statement. “For those in good health, taking just one hour out of a busy holiday schedule to give blood is an active way of showing thanks.  And, that one hour can give hope to patients who are less fortunate this Thanksgiving.”
