Don’t Miss: Parade of Boats at Village Cup Regatta

Sailboats will parade by at 11 a.m. Saturday before the start of the race.

Port Jefferson Harbor will play host to the fourth annual Village Cup Regatta on Saturday where sailboats decked in their finest nautical flags will dot the Long Island Sound.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary Band and a bagpiper will provide music at the viewing area in Harborfront Park in Port Jefferson. Actor Ralph Macchio, of Karate Kid fame and ambassador to the race, will be in the parade's lead boat. Passing vessels will be given a water cannon salute by the club.

The Setauket Yacht Club’s Village Regatta is a friendly competition between teams representing Mather Hospital and the Village of Port Jefferson.

The event raises money for Mather’s Pallative Medicine Program and the Lustgarten Foundation, which funds pancreatic cancer research. The Regatta has raised more than $100,000 for the two programs.

The Village Cup will be presented to the winning team by Macchio at a reception held at the Village Center at the end of the race, between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.
