In between the frigid winter weather this March have been hints of spring, and to kick off the upcoming season, the Mount Sinai Garden club has announced its meeting schedule for 2013.
The meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month starting March 19 and continuing until October. The club invites all area residents to join or attend meetings and participate in garden activities in the Mt. Sinai, Miller Place, Rocky Point, Coram, Port Jeff Station and other local areas .
The first meeting will take place at 7:15 p.m. at the Heritage Center at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai. It will feature a guest speaker from Bayport Flower House speaking about winter and Hurricane damage to trees and shrubs. Specific focus will be the browning and damage to local evergreen trees.
Admission is free to first time attendees, and there is a $25 club fee for yearly membership or free for those with special needs or those who are willing to volunteer on public projects. Contact the Mountsinaigardenclub@yahoo.com or Walter Becker at 631-331-0689 for further information.
