Friends of St Patrick have unveiled its latest grand marshal that will be the main focus of the Miller Place-Rocky Point parade held in March.

Father Richard has been Pastor at Rocky Point's St. Anthony’s of Padua RC Church 2002.  “I was pleasantly surprised and honored to be named Grand Marshal and I feel it is also an honor for Saint Anthony’s Parish for all that they do for the community,” Father Richard said in a statement.

The Friends of St. Patrick began almost 64 years ago when John Sullivan and George Faulkner, came together and decided to host a parade. Together, Sullivan and Faulkner came up with a yearly color scheme and parade route.

According to the Friends of St Patrick, Peggy McKenna, was chosen as queen Saturday of the first St. Patrick's Day parade ever held in Rocky Point and rode in an 85-year-old carriage.

The parade begins on Route 25A & Harrison Avenue in Miller Place, goes east along Route 25A and ends at Broadway and Prince Road in Rocky Point. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. on March 16 with Richard at the helm.
