Get Out: Have a Weekend Full of Fitness

Now that we are well into spring, get in shape this weekend with some of the activities you can find locally, from koga to bowling.


Where/When: Heritage Park Center 633 Mt. Sinai-Coram Road, Mt. Sinai. Weekly on Fridays, 10 a.m.-11 a.m., Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.

Why Go: The Heritage Park Center offers Koga, a combination of kickboxing and yoga, a great all around way to fitness, combining strength, flexibility and cardio.

Where/When: Gold Medal Gymnastic Center, 683 Route 25a, Rocky Point, NY 11778, Weekly on Saturdays, 9 a.m.–11 a.m.

Why Go: Gold Medal Gymnastics opens its doors to any gymnast who wishes to workout on any routines they choose.  All children are supervised.

Pricing: $8 members, $16 non-members

Where/When: , New York 25A, Rocky Point. Weekly on Saturdays, 9 a.m.–9:45 a.m. Advanced class 9:45 a.m.

 Why Go: Beginner as well as Advanced Cardio Kickboxing and strength training classes for women. A non-intimidating environment is great for the novice or experienced person.

Where/When: North Shore Public Library, 250 Route 25A, Shoreham, Saturdays, 10:15 a.m.- 11:15 a.m.

Why Go: To be introduced to a six week class of Belly Dancing as a form of fitness, stress reduction and a way to obtain grace and femininity. Learn basic technique, while working every part of your body. Exercise through rib cage and hip isolation, arm and head movement, traveling steps, belly rolls, shimmies and body rolls. A group dance will be taught.

Why Go: To close out the weekend with some old fashioned fun at low prices.
