The Heritage Trust in Mt. Sinai is looking to hear from as many community voices as possible regarding the
The Heritage Trust Board of Directors will hold an open meeting at the Heritage Center, 633 Mt. Sinai Coram-Road, on Nov. 29 at 7:30 pm. to get feedback from the community.
They have also made available a survey to submit to the trust on their website. Direction to obtain the survey, which must be done via their email list, are available here.
Many have spoken out about the controversy on Patch.
Kara Kilgannon commented, "If there were a Hannukah celebration, I do not believe that Christians would expect the Menorah to be called "The Holiday Candelabra" just so that all may attend."
On Facebook, Gerard Hall wrote, "It is, was and always will be a CHRISTMAS TREE. Stop the secular nonsense and messing with our country's culture and traditions."
Also on Facebook, Caryl Adler Swanson suggested a compromise. She said, "It should be a holiday celebration! Then light the Christmas tree and the Menorah or vice versa if Hannukah comes first!"
