Local Kevin Wood Makes A Singing Dream Come True

A Shoreham Wading River student gets to have a song recorded locally by Long Island's own Kevin Wood.

Local Kevin Wood has a studio in the basement of his house where he can record songs and work on music. A while back, Wood met Jesse Wickey, a student with down syndrome that has always loved to sing.

"He graduated Shoreham Wading River in 2012, after a successful inclusionary educational program and was voted "most unforgettable" by the seniors for the yearbook," said Wood.

Due to Wickey's love of music and dance, Wood invited him over to his house to record some songs for the holidays. "My few hours with Jesse were priceless and I will remember them forever...Jesse had heard I had a studio in the house from my daughter and friends, but life moves quickly and I never recorded Jesse before he graduated," said Wood.

"This year, the time [and] the setting just felt right. I have learned in life that there is a time for everything and some times events are not meant to pass or will pass for a reason...There is a point in the video when I ask what made you love to sing and Jesses replied, "The spirits say to do this."

Wood said he hopes everyone enjoys the video and takes a second to remember their blessings this holiday season.
