Marine Band to Lead St. Patrick's Day Parade

According to Friends of St. Patrick, this is the only parade on Long Island to have a marine band participating.

The Friends of St. Patrick have announced that US Marine Corps Band from Quantico, VA will lead the 63rd Annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17.

According to the group organizing the parade, this makes the Miller Place-Rocky Point parade the only one on Long Island to feature a military band. The group also said it estimates 50,000 people will witness the parade.

Along with the military band, the parade will feature Grand Marshal’s Ed Mooney and Walter Colleran, Queen Christina Mennuti and Lady Stephanie Meier, Suffolk County Police Officers Emerald Society Pipe Band, Stony Brook University Cheerleaders, Student Athletes and Mascot Wolñe, Colonial Ancient Fife & Drum, Rocky Point HS Band, and numerous bands, floats and organizations marching in celebration.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. at Harrison Avenue on Route 25A in Miller Place.

Sounds like it will be a great Parade - I need to find a good spot to watch it from. I never attended the MPRP parade - this year I think I'll have the time. (I think that Stony Brook's Mascot was meant to be spelled: "Wolfie").
