Memorial Day Weekend Planner

Memorial Day brings an extra-long weekend to enjoy and to remember veterans.

When/Were: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai.

Why Go: Enjoy the display of 106 flags along the Avenue of America in Heritage Park (aka The Wedge). The flags and signs display and describe the growth of our nation. National, territory, state and local flags line the Avenue of America and Armed Forces flags fly in the Court of America. Volunteers of the Heritage Trust assemble and retire the Parade on six national holidays.

When/Where: Noon, Monday at the Sound Beach Veterans Memorial on New York Ave.

Why Go: Plaques honoring the fallen of Sound Beach have been installed at the Sound Beach Vets Memorial, and you can join in remembering the seven veterans who gave their lives for the country as the park is dedicated on Memorial Day.

The 11th Annual Brookhaven Fair

When/Where: May 25 through June 10 at Bald Hill in Farmingville.

Why Go: A Memorial Day weekend tradition in Brookhaven. Bring the family to the 11th annual Brookhaven Fair and enjoy music, food, rides, games, fireworks and more. Admission on Friday is just $1, with ride tickets for $25 at the fair or $20 when purchased online.
