Miller Place-Rocky Point Storm Center: Accumulations, School Closings, Announcements

Snow totals, school closings, emergency announcements will be updated here as the information comes in.

Snow Totals:
According to the National Weather Service, Miller Place and Rocky Point got anywhere between 10.5 and 11 inches of snow Tuesday night. 

Weather.com is reporting that Miller Place and Rocky Point received 12 inches.

Closings:

Miller Place School District:

Due to the anticipated heavy snowfall that may cause Miller Place and Sound Beach roads to be impassable, and freezing temperatures, the District is very concerned about student transportation and safety at bus stops.

Therefore, all schools will be closed Wednesday.

There will be no transportation for private and parochial schools, BOCES and Out of District student placements. All school activities, athletics, clubs, drama, robotics, evening events and use of facilities by outside organizations are cancelled.

Rocky Point School District:

Snow Emergency from The Town of Brookhaven:

Driving conditions are expected to be extremely hazardous throughout this evening and tomorrow morning, due to the expected accumulation of 8” to 14” of snow. Town snow removal crews will be working throughout the night to clear the roads until all are safe and passable. 

Residents should call 451-TOWN to report snow related issues. Call 911 for police, fire and ambulance emergencies only. For non-emergency police issues, call 631-852-2677. To report a power outage or downed wires, call PSEG at 800-436-7734 or go to www.psegliny.com to make a report online.
