A drill expected to simulate a mass casualty incident will be held at Ward Melville in coming months, though details are still in the works.
According to a Village Times Herald Article, members of the Setauket Fire Department and Three Village School District are coordinating with representatives on the county level as well as in surrounding districts.

Town Poised To Deny Controversial Proposed Calverton Excavation
A controversial permit for excavation on a Calverton farm could be denied by the Riverhead Town board at its next meeting, which will be held on Wednesday.
Orient residents Steven and Gretchen Mezynieski, owners of Driftwood Farms, came before the board for approval in May to begin excavation work at their Calverton parcel, which was previously the Zeh farm.

Smithtown Native Gets Back to Work After Conquering Cancer – Twice
When Smithtown graduate Meredith Jorgensen was first diagnosed with cancer at age 28, in December of 2008, the initial reaction was denial, she recalls.
"It couldn't really be that," she said. "You hear about people having cancer scares. I figured it would be, like, 'Oh, OK. We'll figure it out.' But then it kept getting worse and worse."

A Smithtown resident has reached out to share her public thanks to all members of the Kings Park Volunteer Fire Department for their efforts to aide her husband.
Donna Del Vecchio, wrote this letter to Patch, thanking all those who responded to a 911 on July 16 for her husband, Michael, who later died. He was 53.
