North Shore Youth Council Invites Public to Drug Forum

Suffolk County Sheriff's Office presents forum to learn the signs of drug use.

The North Shore Youth Council is inviting the public to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s presentation for community members to learn the signs of drug use, and where family and friends can seek help if they are concerned that someone they love may be abusing drugs and alcohol.

The event, being held at our office on the grounds of the Joseph A. Edgar School in Rocky Point, will take place April 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will also remember a local teenager who lost his life due to a prescription drug overdose in 2010.

The presentation will inform parents about the signs of drug use, current trends in street drugs, such as “molly”, prescription drug abuse and heroin and how to find help for a family member or friend that may be using illicit drugs.

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office heroin and substance abuse presentation was developed after a Deputy Sheriff Investigator arrested a 19-year-old female from Suffolk County whose life spiraled out of control once she became addicted to heroin.

If you are interested in attending this forum RSVP to North Shore Youth Council at nsyc2005@aol.com.
