Over 100 Street Signs, 17 Street Lamps Repaired in Operation Clean Sweep

Town releases results of initiative from the end of June into July.

121 street signs were replaced,17 street lamps were fixed and one ton of trash was removed during Operation Clean Sweep in Rocky Point, according to the Town of Brookhaven.

The initiative also resulted in the upgrade of 84 streetlights with energy efficient lights and the re-striping of nine crosswalks, along with the creation of one new crosswalk, according to statistics released by the Town Monday.

“Our employees did a wonderful job during Operation Clean Sweep and I appreciate their efforts to help make a difference for the residents of Rocky Point," Councilwoman Jane Bonner said in a release. "The work they did has improved the quality of life in the community and made it safer for everyone.”

Operation Clean Sweep and was the second of six initiatives by the Town.

“Our second Operation Clean Sweep was a great success and I thank the Quality of Life Task Force for working with the Departments Waste Management and Traffic Safety to give this neighborhood a make-over,” Supervisor Mark Lesko said in the release.
