P.F. Chang's Opens at Smith Haven Mall

Chinese bistro-style restaurant opens in time for holiday shoppers.

Hungry holiday shoppers have a new dining option to choose from at Smith Haven Mall.

P.F. Chang's opened its doors to serve up its fresh twist on Asian fare at the Lake Grove Mall on Nov. 26. The bistro-style restaurant is hoping to attract interest from the crushing waves of holiday shoppers.

"Our guests look to us to deliver their favorite Asian dishes, as well as exciting new tastes that may soon become their favorites," said Rick Federico, CEO of P.F. Chang's in a statement. "The seasonal menu introduces outstanding dishes that take advantage of fresh, unique ingredients and flavors."

The Asian restaurant's menu features P.F. Chang's iconic menu with entrees including Cantoneese-style lemon chicken, orange peel beef, and Asian grilled Salmon. Featured fresh seasonal ingredients currently in restaurants include kale, quinoa, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash and zucchini.

The main entrance of P.F. Chang's is next door to The Cheesecake Factory and J.C. Penny, although there is no entrance from the Lifestyle Village's court. It's doors lack the chain's trademark 11-foot-tall terracotta horses on either side of its doorway. The horses are mounted on 3-foot, 8-inch tall bases, standing nearly 15 feet tall over entering customers.

"In a discussion between P.F. Chang's and Smith Haven Mall agreed to eliminate the horses all together as they were considering freestanding signs. It would restrict the mall from getting any freestanding signs in the future so they are off the application," Colamussi said to Patch in November 2012.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner:Sunday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.

The Lake Grove restaurant is the chain's second Long Island location, following Westbury. It has plans to open another restaurant in Huntington's Walt Whitman Mall early in 2014.
