Resident Asks For Donations For Cedar Beach Polar Plunge

Only five days left to help Kevin Cantwell reach his Polar Plunge goal of $800.

On Nov. 23, Cedar Beach will be filled with thousands of residents from all over Long Island willing to jump into the freezing cold water to raise some money for the 'Freezing for a Reason' annual Polar Plunge.

The fundraiser is designed to help raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics New York, by jumping into the chilly waters of the Long Island Sound.

This year Kevin Cantwell and his grandson plan on jumping into the waters to support the cause. "I know – you’re probably getting cold just thinking about it. But the cold that I will feel is temporary…the positive impact this will have on the lives of thousands of people with intellectual disabilities will last a lifetime," said Cantwell in an email.

Cantwell has set a personal fundraising goal of $800 and is looking for help to reach it. "I’m not asking you to take the Plunge alongside me (unless you want to), but instead, I am asking if you will make a donation to Special Olympics New York on behalf of me taking The Plunge," said Cantwell.
