Dan Wood, a Rocky Point student who lives in Sound Beach, placed second in the Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Long Island’s Got Talent competition and received a $5,000 scholarship from Five Towns College.
This isn't the first competition Wood has won with his impressive pipes, as he was named the winner of Rocky Point Idol 2012. Click here to see him belt Creed's hit, "Arms Wide Open."
Created by WMHO’s Youth Corps, students ages 10-17 from all over Long Island participated in various rounds over seven months displaying their vocal or musical instrument talents.
“It has been a rewarding journey to see the development of the contestants from their first audition to the finals," said WMHO President Gloria Rocchio. "We congratulate all of these talented youngsters.”
