Rocky Point VFW 9/11 Memorial Unveiled

Ceremony held Sunday to unveil memorial honoring victims, first responders and rescue workers and "War on Terror" veterans.

A ceremony was held at Diamond in the Pines Park in Coram Sunday to unveil the Rocky Point VFW 9/11 Memorial.

Joe Cognitore, Commander of the Rocky Point VFW, and Rich Acritelli, organized the memorial with the help of multiple organizations, officials and community members.

The memorial has two pieces of steel from the World Trade Center along with three boulders, multiple plaques, a statue of an Eagle and a brickway walkway. The memorial is designed to honor victims of the attacks, first responders and rescue workers and "War on Terror" veterans from the Town of Brookhaven.
