Student Organizes Breast Cancer Walkathon for Heritage Park

North Country Road student organizes benefit in Mt. Sinai.

Ariel Heller, a student at , developed the "We Care" walkathon, which will be held Nov.12 at 1 p.m. at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai.

Participants will walk three times around the track at the park. All proceeds will be donated to the Fortunato Breast Health Center at in Port Jefferson. Heller's advocacy has gained the attention of both administrators and students at her school as well as elected officials and others.

“To have a person as young as Ariel become so involved with such an important issue says a lot about her character,” said Assemblyman Daniel P. Losquadro (R/C, Shoreham). “The money raised from this event will go a long way towards helping the excellent professionals at the Fortunato Breast Health Center provide much needed services to residents of our community.”

Those unable to attend but would like to still donate can mail a check made out ‘The Fortunato Breast Health Center’ to: Dr. Donna Manzi at 649 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY 11778.

A rain date for the event is scheduled for Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.
