Volunteerism Sparks at Tesla Site Clean Up

Saturday morning volunteer clean ups have been in progress for the past four months.

Things are shaping up nicely at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe
as volunteers continue the clean up effort of the once abandoned property.

Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, the nonprofit group that was the beneficiary of a $1.37 million fundraising campaign aiming to preserve Nikola Tesla's final laboratory in Shoreham as a museum, closed on the property in May, ensuring the process to preserve the property and create a museum in Tesla's honor.

The group has held regular Saturday morning clean up sessions for the past four months, beginning last May. The span of their progress can be seen here. Anyone wishing to lend a hand can join the next planned clean up session on Sept. 21.

The organization's president Jane Alcorn, told Patch in May that the Tesla building, where his lab was housed, was the first place the group wanted to begin restoration.
