With Wardenclyffe Sale Official, Tesla Museum a Go

Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, the nonprofit group that was the beneficiary of a $1.37 million fundraising campaign and is aiming to preserve Nikola Tesla's final laboratory in Shoreham as a museum, have finally closed on the property last week.

With the sale now in the rearview mirror and the property officially in the hands of the nonprofit group, the process to preserve the property and create a museum in Nikola Tesla's honor can now begin.

After 47 Years, Statuary Business is A Fixture in Rocky Point

Mario Tribuzio comes right over, strolling past mythic gods and legendary heroes, pensive martyrs and joyful Buddhas, dolphins, lighthouses, knights and spouting fountains.

Since 1966, the 81-year-old Rocky Point resident has been selling statuary right from this very spot on Route 25A at Rocky Point Statuary. Across the street from where he lives, a home naturally adorned with his works of art.

Rocky Point Man In Crash With Bicyclist

A Rocky Point man was involved in an accident early on Wednesday morning that sent a bicyclist to the hospital in serious condition according to a police report.

At 5:12 am, Frank Sciulla, 49, was driving in a 2003 Ford on Mount Sinai-Coram Road near Pine Road in Coram when he hit a bicycle ridden by Ian Rhodes, 22, of Coram.

Rocky Point's Maertz Declares Candidacy for New York State Assembly

Jennifer Maertz, D-Rocky Point, announced her candidacy Monday for the Second Assembly District for the seat that was vacated by former Assemblyman Dan Losquadro after he was elected as Brookhaven Town Superintendent of Highways during a special election in March.

The Rocky Point woman most recently ran in the state senate primary to challenge New York State Sen. Kenneth LaValle but lost to Bridget Fleming. She first ran for State Senate in the 1st Senate District in 2010.

Miller Place Alum Wins Long Island Marathon

Miller Place alum Derek Rammelkamp won Sunday's 2013 RXR Long Island Marathon.

Rammelkamp won the marathon for the men with a time of  two hours, 32 minutes and 11 seconds and Kelly Gillen, a Manhasset native, won the the race for women with a time of three hours and three minutes.
