Where Were You When Martin Luther King Jr. Was Killed?

Martin Luther King Day, celebrated on third Monday of January, which is Jan. 20 this year, was initially established by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, but not formally observed until 1986. In the year 2000 all 50 states had taken action to observe the holiday.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American clergyman, activist, and prominent leader of the African-American civil rights movement and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who became known for his advancement of civil rights.

Most people remember exactly what they were doing when they got the news that he was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis Tennessee on April 4, 1968 at the age of 39.
