Year's First Snowfall Leaves Inches on the Ground
Friday's snowfall caused the cancellation of events across the Miller Place-Rocky Point area.
The first snowfall of 2011 hit Miller Place, Sound Beach and Rocky Point with about 2-3 inches, though forecasts had predicted up to 6. Slippery roads caused Rocky Point schools to cancel all evening activities Friday, including the finals for , a school-based singing compeitition let by radio station WBLI. also cancelled its show at in Miller Place because of the snow. Roads were clear by Saturday morning, but don't put those snow shovels away just yet. More snow is predicted for the area Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
