YouTube: Twister Forms in Rocky Point Over Sound

Twister forms in the clouds over the Sound in Rocky Point.

YouTube user kevink18 uploaded a video late Thursday night of the storm over the Long Island Sound in Rocky Point.

The video shows the storm coming across the Sound as viewed from the top of their cliff. In the video, you can see a while line in the Sound in the distance, which is the torrential rain coming across. Midway through you can see a twister forming in the cloud.

Patch reader James Weber also sent in a picture of the storm clouds over Rocky Point. Have a picture or video of the storm? Email Rich.arleo@patch.com.

Not a twister, tornado or funnel. It's a shelf cloud. There was no tornado watch or warning and no rotation shown on radar. Also, no rotation in the video from what I can see.

Where? I did not see any sign of a funnel cloud.

I agree...no evidence of a "twister"...just a cool storm cloud moving quickly.
