After being selected as one of four bands to compete over the weekend at the 18th Annual Long Island Fall Festival, the Two Man Acoustical Jam from Rocky Point took the top spot and have now earned the chance to open an upcoming show for a major act at The Paramount Theater in Huntington.
The band, made up of Gino D'Ambrosio and Jim Brown of Rocky Point, started performing just for fun in front of friends but have now taken that next step after what D'Ambrosio calls a surprising win at Battle of the Bands.
"It was an amazing feeling to win this competition," he said. "Jim and myself were completely taken by surprise. We never expected to win this competition, we were just hoping for some good exposure but I guess we got that now."
The two-piece acoustical group plays all forms of Rock, Pop, Party and Blues from the 60's to now and can often be seen performing around the area at places like Carmody's in Rocky Point or Grumpy Jack's in Port Jefferson.
After the victory, the band is now looking forward to their upcoming performance at The Paramount Theater.
"For two guys who just love to play music as it was intended for our friends, it has really evolved in to something much larger over the last year and a half," D'Ambrosio said.
