Saturday Night Crash Kills One

Victim yet to be identified; no charges made as of Monday.

A Saturday night crash on Route 25A in Rocky Point left one man dead, who police have yet to identify as they await a positive identification and notification of next of kin.

Police are still investigating the crash, which occurred ar 7:40 p.m. on the Route 25A bypass after a Toyota Scion crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a coach bus coming right at it.

No charges were made in the crash as of Monday, according to police.

The driver of the Scion was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, and the driver of the tour bus – which had no passengers at the time of the crash – was sent to nearby Mather Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check, and police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
