Shoreham-Wading River's $66.1 Million Budget Passes by 67 Percent

Budget passes easily, as does capital proposition.

A $66.1 million budget was approved Tuesday by Shoreham-Wading River voters by 67 percent.

With 1,005 ‘yes’ votes and 504 ‘no’ votes, a tax levy increase -- within the cap -- of 2.29 percent kicks in this coming school year.

The budget is an increase of 5.5 percent over the current year's budget and does not include any cuts.

In the Board of Education election, incumbent Richard Pluschau received 1,061 votes and newcomer Sean Beran got 1,070 votes votes as the two will take over the two available seats.

The capital proposition of $4,985,000 for repairs and reconstruction projects also passed by a vote of 1,137-369.
