Middle School Cheerleaders Welcome LI2Day Walkers

Cheerleaders greet walkers with a cheer and some refreshments.

Miller Place Middle School Cheerleaders recently welcomed participants from the LI 2 Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer to Cathedral Pines Park as they completed the first leg of their 40 mile journey.

The girls helped motivate with  encouraging cheer and also distributed frozen fruit bars and other snacks as well as the walkers' 20-mile charm.

"This cause means a lot to me since I lost my grandmother to breast cancer even before I was born," said cheerleader Mia Lafond. "The motto of this walk is 'What's raised here stays here', and we all know this disease effects many Long Islanders, including some family members of my team...it makes all of us feel good to be able to help."
