Moe's Southwest Grill to Take Over Old Taco Bell in Rocky Point

After the old Taco Bell building was left vacant for years, the community was excited to hear in January that Moe's Southwest Grill would be taking over.

Moe's Southwest Grill Targets Early Summer Opening

After Patch announced that Moe's Southwest Grill was on its way, Moe's told Patch on Twitter (@Moes_HQ) that they were hoping to open in the early summer. Once the restaurant opened, lines were out the door.

Popular local beer nuts, the Rocky Point Artisan Brewers, were finally licensed over the Summer and began selling their crafts to local restaurants and distributors.

Property Owner's Appeal of Rocky Point Drive-In Decision Denied

Almost three months after it was announced that the Town of Brookhaven won it's litigation with the Rocky Point Drive-In owner to retain recreational zoning, it was announced that an appeal by the owner has been denied by the New York State Supreme Court.

Miller Place Verizon Latest Dead Zone

The Verizon Wireless location in Miller Place shut down and became reportedly one of many Verizon franchises now closed on Long Island following a contract dispute.

When Play N Trade in Miller Place closed down, the vacant space led to two businesses relocating. Dee Jo's More Than Pet Supplies moved into the vacant Play N Trade location next door in the Friendly's Shopping Center, and the Rocky Point Sprint store moved from it's location on the corner of Route 25A and Rocky Point-Yaphank Road into the Dee Jo's location.

Capital One Closing One of its Rocky Point Branches

The Capital One west branch at 75 Route 25A in Rocky Point closed down for good on Oct. 5 and the branch consolidated with the eastern branch located at 366 Route 25A.

Ging's Nursery Set to Reopen in March

After being closed for years, Ging's Nursery reopened for the 2011 holiday season and then announced at the beginning of 2012 that it would reopened for good in March.

Bravo MP Majority, very well said.Teachers are the most protected job on the planet. Now if theyRead More could only earn that money by producing results in the classrooms like they used to. But I also blame the absent NO vote. They need to be sent a message-we need a majority no vote but that will never happen. Glad I am out of here in 2 years. Can't imagine trying to live here and pay these taxes on social security and my 401K that tanked in 2008 while I was making up the teachers loss on their pension and paying my health insurance & theirs at the same time. So boo hoo teachers you have to spend money on the kids while I spend money on you.

Spoken like a true teacher. Did you know that the average school teacher is only paying 15% of theRead More actual cost of health care premiums for themselves and their families, when Medical healthcare insurance premiums are rising at an alarming 17% per annum? Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
