Timothy Hill Children's Ranch Thrift Shop Transformed

A thrift shop that for years has helped to raise funds for the Timothy Hill Children's Ranch in Riverhead has undergone a facelift.

According to Thaddeus Hill, executive director of the Timothy Hill Children's Ranch, the thrift shop has been on the property for over 10 years.

But on Tuesday, the shop reopened as The Ranch Boutique, under the management of Alyssa Wilkie, who relocated from Texas and has given the shop a makeover.

There's a wine store, a cheese store and an olive oil shop, but one business that the village of Port Jeff doesn't have is a liquor store, and that's about to change.

Port Jeff Liquors will open next month in the t-shirt shop above Fitness Together on East Main Street. Steve Plunkett, who owns the t-shirt shop, is in the process of winding down that business as he prepares to open the new liquor store in its place.

Soon, it will be easier to find Kimchi in Stony Brook, than cheese and crackers.

Another Asian grocery store in under construction in the village, near the back of the same center that includes Soups On, Rockabilly Barbers and Green Cactus Mexican Grill.

That might be the mantra of chef Taylor Knapp, who has launched Peconic Escargot, a "spanking new farm and start-up company" in Cutchogue.
