Business Beat: Miller's Ale House Opens, Local Site Offers Deals

This week, Patch reported on a variety of business developments across northern and central Suffolk County. Here are the highlights.

MILLER PLACE-ROCKY POINT

Red Mango Coming to Miller Place

It's been two years since Ladies Workout Express closed down in the Stop and Shop shopping center on Route 25A in Miller Place, but a new business is finally coming to the location, and it's one that will likely excite many locals. Red Mango will be opening soon in the center, making it their location furthest east on the North Shore of Long Island. The only Red Mango further east on the island is located in Shirley. 

PORT JEFFERSON 

Hess Express Opens at Old Texaco Site

The blight that was the old Texaco Station at the corner of Washington Avenue and Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station is no more, and in its place is a brand new Hess Express. 

HAUPPAUGE

Hauppauge Starbucks Trading Free Coffee for Tornado Donations

Starbucks on Route 111 in Hauppauge is one of several participating in a fundraiser to help tornado victims in Oklahoma.   
In exchange for a monetary donation of any amount, Starbucks is offering a free tall cup of coffee from now until June 4. 

SMITHTOWN

Miller's Ale House Opens Sunday

The popular bar and grill chain started constructing a new Lake Grove location on the former site of Houlihan’s, opposite the Smith Haven Mall, in November 2012.  It had tentatively announced its grand opening for late April, but was pushed back to late May and will now open on June 1.

Local Site Serves Up Deals With Charitable Donations

A new site for local deals is offering up not just bargains, but is giving back to charities as well. 
LivingSmithtown.com is a Groupon type-site brings together local merchants and shoppers for sales, while offering up a chance to give back to a local charity. 

THREE VILLAGE 

Welcome Home Moves Out [Empty in Three Village]

A longtime fixture in the Stony Brook Village Center, Welcome Home of Stony Brook, has closed its doors. The shop's former owner said it closed April 30 but declined to comment otherwise. Storefronts in the village center tend to not stay vacant for long. For instance, it was a matter of three months when Irish Elegance left its storefront and the women's boutique Mint opened its doors in its place. 

COMMACK

Chico's Coming to Mayfair

There will be one less empty storefront this summer at the Mayfair Shopping Center.
Chico's clothing store will take over 2,971 square feet of empty retail space between Rite Aid and New York & Company.
Workers at the site said that the store is set to open at the end of July.
