Issues Continue for Troubled Restaurant Location

The Local restaurant will not open in Rocky Point, according to a source.

The Local is the latest restaurant to add to the list of failed endeavors in one location in the Crossroads Plaza in Rocky Point, as the restaurant will not open in the near future.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation who wished to remain anonymous, internal issues have put an end to the restaurant.

While Patch does not like to use anonymous sources, we felt that it was important to update readers on the status of the restaurant, which has been dark for months.

The original plan was for Near the end of February, a sign was placed in the door saying that the restaurant will be open in March. Shortly after, that sign was removed and the restaurant remained closed. There are no updates on any new business coming to the location at this time.

The spot has had issues in the past as well. Fatty Beltbuckles opened in 2008, but business suffered after the owners faced felony rape charges, which were later dismissed by the District Attorney, and the restaurant closed in early 2010.
