On Feb. 28, diners can head to select local restaurants and get a healthy "Smart Entree" for just $5  thanks to restaurant program.

in Sound Beach and C.P. LaManno's and Cuzzin's Smoothie Cafe in Miller Place are three restaurants in the area to join in on the program. Paradiso in Mt. Sinai will also be involved in the program designed to promote the benefits of portion control.

“It’s the same delicious food that is featured on their regular menu in a reduced portion size," said Gemma Saylor, a registered dietitian and director of the restaurant program. "It’s the smart way to dine out. You won’t feel too stuffed, you won’t waste any food and your wallet won’t be hurting,”

Prices are per person and do not include beverage, tax or gratuity. The program is fudned by the New York State Department of Health - Healthy Heart Program.

“Many of our partner restaurants have already introduced smaller portion items to their regular menus," Saylor said. "This event entices diners to try these great options. Portion control is a simple way to help manage weight gain and helps reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some forms of cancer.”
