Lots of Love for Is-A-Love Six Months After Opening

Checking in with Is-A-Love Cafe six months after opening.

It's been just over six months since Is-A-Love Cafe opened up in the long-empty Antonio's Prime Butcher location in Sound Beach, and the cafe has brought a unique and exciting atmosphere to the community.

"We're participating in a lot of community stuff and really getting busy," said owner and chef Adrianne Johansson, who runs the cafe with her husband. "We're doing great and just passed our six month anniversary...things are really going well."

Johansson noted that since opening, the cafe has developed with new improvements and additions as well as weekly and monthly events. Along with additional seating and new menu items is the installation of their sound system for open mic nights and live performances.

"Artists come in on a Friday and just plug in and it's beautiful," she said. "We do outdoor concerts in the Is-A-Love backyard now too."

They also host a psychic every Wednesday, which Johansson said is "booked solid" every week, along with 'Single Mingles' once a month and additional live music.

"Outdoors and indoors," Johansson said, "it gets packed and the community is loving it."
