Meet the Owner: Rich Abbenante of The Metro Agency

Insurance agents looking to strengthen already deep roots in Rocky Point.

Rich Abbenante is a long-time member of the Rocky Point community and an insurance agent who recently teamed up with a few partners to open up in Rocky Point.

Abbenante and his partners are looking to continue their relationship in the community by being involved in fundraisers, networking meetings and other events such as the annual . After opening up in late July, Patch sat down with Abbenante to speak about the agency.

How did you get started?

"I’ve had the insurance office for about seven years. For the most part it’s been a home-based operation until we teamed up with two more guys. I guess we just collaborated, pulled money together and said ‘lets do it.’  With my connection with Rocky Point and three of my business partners are from Rocky Point so it was just natural that we wanted to be based her. We've been open for just about a month, it’s been great and we’ve gotten great feedback..

What has been the biggest challenge?

"None really. For the most part, we’ve had a pretty good streak so far."

What do you enjoy most about your line of work?

"Meeting people. Today alone we’ve had some fun, met a lot of people in the community showing them how we can provide services that they need and that when they need them most, these programs are available."

What are some of the services you offer?

"We are a fully licensed Progressive agency...and we’re a full service Aflac store front so we’re more than happy to service other peoples' questions and claims they may have with their Aflac programs. We can insure you're home, your business and pretty often we can save you a lot of money."

What are some of the things that are unique about your agency?

"We’re out there. We attend about two to three networking events per week, we’re looking to have a float in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, looking to do a ton of fundraisers and we’ve done some in the past. We’re very hands on. Being the owner of this agency, I have the freedom to put the thoughts that I’ve always wanted to do into play. If I know something can work and it’s going to be a benefit, we just do it."

Bravo MP Majority, very well said.Teachers are the most protected job on the planet. Now if theyRead More could only earn that money by producing results in the classrooms like they used to. But I also blame the absent NO vote. They need to be sent a message-we need a majority no vote but that will never happen. Glad I am out of here in 2 years. Can't imagine trying to live here and pay these taxes on social security and my 401K that tanked in 2008 while I was making up the teachers loss on their pension and paying my health insurance & theirs at the same time. So boo hoo teachers you have to spend money on the kids while I spend money on you.

Spoken like a true teacher. Did you know that the average school teacher is only paying 15% of theRead More actual cost of health care premiums for themselves and their families, when Medical healthcare insurance premiums are rising at an alarming 17% per annum? Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
