New Wendy's Facade Could Be in the Works

A proposal to revamp the building was submitted in Town Hall recently, though was not on the most recent Planning Board agenda.

A proposal to revamp the look of Wendy's in Miller Place – put on hold at the last Town Planning Board Meeting – did not make it back on the agenda at the Aug. 19 meeting after being discussed earlier in the month.

A proposal calls for replacing the red bricks and shingles with a new look featuring large glass windows, stone and tile veneer, and cedar shake singles. The 'Wendy's' brand logo in the front of the fast-food joint would be moved from the front facade to a chimney-like sign projecting from the middle of the building. The front of the restaurant would instead read the company's logo: 'Quality is our Recipe.'

A Wendy's spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment, but Planning Board Member Steven Wilutis said it's not uncommon for an item to come onto the agenda and make its way back at a later date, as the applicants amend their plan as requested by the town planning department staff.

The site plan proposals were first submitted in mid-July.
