Rocky Point Farmers Market Eligible for Town's Insurance

New Brookhaven ruling allows farmers market to save $3,500 a year for self promotion.

Rocky Point Farmers Market will be able to save a few bucks on its insurance now that Brookhaven Town officials have ruled it's "a program for public good." 

Brookhaven Town Board approved a resolution on May 21 that qualifies Rocky Point Farmers Market for the town's insurance, without it having an impact on the own's budget, the Times Beacon Record reports. It was sponsored by Councilwoman Jane Bonner, C - Rocky Point. 

The town's ruling will save the farmer's market $3,500 in insurance costs, which will be spent on advertising and promotion of the local market, according to President Charles Bevington. 

The Rocky Point Farmers Market is held each Sunday starting May 12 t late November from 8 am to 1 pm at the corner of Broadway and Prince in Rocky Point.
