White Castle Closes Mt. Sinai Location; Chain Considers Returning to Area

Restaurant chain open to new location in the area.

After about 10 years of serving their patented sliders in Mt. Sinai, White Castle has ceased operations at their location on Route 25A after their lease expired.

Jamie Richardson, vice president of the famous chain, explained that their situation at that location just wasn't working out.

"It’s always regretful when we can no longer continue to operate in a space," Richardson said. "As we looked at the performance and how we were doing in terms of our sales there, despite our best efforts we couldn’t get it to the point where it made sense to re-up for more time at that specific site."

Richardson said that all employees were offered a position at one of the other locations. The company is still open to returning to the area at another location.

"We’re continuing to look in that general area for perhaps new locations down the line," he said. "We really value all the customers we have that visited that location and we’d love to be back in the neighborhood at some point. For our business it just wasn't the fit we hoped for. It’s certainly never an easy decision."
