With Injuries From Car Crash, Chef Closes Amarelle in Wading River

Newsday reports that Lia Fallon has closed the doors of her restaurant during the winter doldrums.

Chef Lia Fallon has closed Amarelle, a fine dining restaurant in Wading River, Newsday reported on Wednesday.

The chef is still on crutches, recovering from injuries sustained in a September car crash that crushed her left foot and led to her hiring another chef to help out during the busy fall. But Fallon told Newsday that she could not keep a staff during this winter’s slow season and made the decision to close.

Fallon continues to work in catering and consulting and will cook a four-course Valentine’s Day dinner at Roanoke Vineyards in Riverhead.

. One man has died after a tragic two-car accident on Friday night on Sound Avenue in Riverhead.

Police said responding units found 2006 Mazda 4dsd that had been struck by a 2005 Kia Suburban heading westbound.

In September, the Sound Avenue accident that injured Fallon took the life of John Scorzelli Jr., 46. He was treated at the scene and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where, despite efforts made, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival due to extensive injuries received in the accident.

Fallon, 43, of Port Jefferson, was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance members and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for further treatment of minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
