Despite The Recent Tragedies Don't Rush To Judgment About Gun Owners!

I have never been a pro or anti gun owner advocate. BB and Pellet guns have always provided me with all the entertainment I've ever needed. My 15 year old son however recently took a NRA 22 cal gun class upstate sponsored by the Air Force Civil Air Patrol of which he is an active and enthusiastic member. Upon completion of his course and coming home to Long Island he asked if I would buy him a 22 cal rifle. I didn't hesitate as I was sure he was given proper instruction. After purchasing a Ruger 10-22 rifle we headed to the Ridge Shooting Range to target practice. What I found at the range were very safety concious, polite, helpful, passionate, and respectful individuals regarding the use of guns. There are plenty of men shooting the "worried" assault type weapon there. They are target shooting and having a great time. I don't see myself or my son ever owing one but I have no issue with those guns being used properly as a hobby.

Please don't get caught up in the hype regarding guns because of the senseless actions of some deranged sick individuals. When used properly a gun doesn't kill anyone. The event in Colorado and now Wisconsin are not representative of the very respectfull and safe gun owners in this country.

My son and his friend shot 500 rounds of 22 cal today and you've never seen two young men happier. Thanks Ridge (Brookhaven) Range for providing a good time and a great safe experience for my son!
