Using Your Local Library For Your New E-Book Reader

Using Your Library for Electronic Readers!

Many of us will be getting (I've already received mine) a e-book type reader for Christmas this year. Whether it is a Kindle or a Nook your local library ( or ) subscribes to Live-brary! Live-brary is a website where you can electronically borrow books from the Library and have them automatically sent to your new reading device. Go to your local Libraries website, look for the Live-brary link and after you choose your library from a pulldown menu and enter a valid library card barcode number, you're on your way to borrowing electronic books.

Browse the different categories to see what you are able to borrow. The selection isn't complete yet but it is getting better all the time. Popular books sometimes require being put on a waiting list. When it's your turn to borrow the book you will be notified by e-mail and you have three days to retrieve your book. Book borrowing is typically for a seven day period. If you finish the book early you can electronically return it early. You will get a notice letting you know when you borrowing period is almost up and then the book will automatically be returned after seven days.

The first time you electronically borrow a book there is a slight learning curve but after you've done it a few times it's not difficult at all.
