Local Schools, Other Events Cancelled Because of Snow

With more than 6 inches dumped overnight in the local area, most kids have a snow day.

Schools and other organizations have closed and cancelled events around town thanks to the more than 6 inches of snow dumped on the local area overnight.

Both the Miller Place School District and Rocky Point School District have closed all schools Thursday, including elementary schools, middle schools and high schools.

At the Miller Place district, there will be no transportation for private or parochial schools and no evening activities, including use of the facilities by outside organizations. The varsity wrestling match against Rocky Point, scheduled for 5 p.m. tonight at Miller Place High School, has also been cancelled.

The North Shore Public Library closed early at 2:30 p.m. yesterday, but hasn't yet announced it's operational status for today. The Comsewogue Public Library will open at 1 p.m. today and close at 9 p.m.
