Play’s Creators Attend Sunday Performance of Treasure Island

The cast of Treasure Island put on a rousing performance on Sunday at Theatre Three to the delight of not only the audience, but to three special attendees. The creators of the show: Sherman Yellen, who wrote the book for the play (and blogged about the Theatre Three performance on Huffington Post), Gary William Friedman, who composed the music and Will Holt, who wrote the lyrics were all in attendance. Although the play was written 30 years ago, it has never been performed at full throttle.

"This was a moment of theatre history for our company," said Executive Artistic Director Jeffrey Sanzel, who also directed the play. "To have these three legendary Broadway figures attend not just a performance of their work–but a world premiere. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Custody Settled for Son of St. James Murder-Suicide Victim

The custody dispute over Tyler Farrell, the orphaned son of the late Katie Farrell, who was killed by East Northport native and ex-boyfriend James Schultz in a murder-suicide, has been settled.

Clare Farrell, mother to the late Katie and grandmother to Tyler, said she could not legally disclose details of the agreement to the press as per a clause in the agreement, but insisted it was put together with Tyler’s best interests in mind.

“There’s no bad details, we ended up with an agreement, not a fight, and it continues that way,” she said. “It continues to be a relationship based in what’s Tyler’s best interest, not our own.”

Spoken like a true teacher. Did you know that the average school teacher is only paying 15% of theRead More actual cost of health care premiums for themselves and their families, when Medical healthcare insurance premiums are rising at an alarming 17% per annum? Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
