Port Jefferson Students Serve Early Thanksgiving Feast to Seniors

The student council in Port Jefferson Middle School held its annual Senior Citizens’ Luncheon for members of the Port Jefferson Senior Center on Nov. 14 serving up a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, according to the school district. The dinner was catered and paid for by the student council through fundraisers throughout the year. Parents contributed to desserts for the meal.

Police Officers Save Man in Cardiac Arrest at Hauppauge Law Office

Suffolk County Police officers revived a man in cardiac arrest in Hauppauge on Monday.

According to police, officers Victor Federico and Erickson Coquinco, as well as members of the Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Company, responded to a call of a 57-year-old man who passed out in a hallway a law office on Motor Parkway after saying he wasn't feeling well.

Dam Breach at Sunken Meadow Re-routes Park Users

A project slated for the dam at Sunken Meadow State Park may need to be pushed along a little faster due to some damage from Superstorm Sandy.
The man–made dam, located by field three of the park, was breached after Sandy pounced on Long Island in late October. Grant monies from the Long Island Sound Futures Fund were slated before the storm to restore tidal flow. The first step in the project was to remove the dam.
