Shoreham Eagle Scouts Honored for Local Projects

Scouts worked on the Rocky Point 9/11 Memorial and Cathedral Pines Park in Middle Island.

Michael Kelly and John Colwell from Boy Scout Troop 161 in Wading River were presented with Certificates of Congratulations for earning the rank of Eagle Scout at the Boy Scouts of America’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Wading River.

Kelly's Eagle Scout Service Project consisted of laying sod, planting decorative soft scape and placingmulch at the Rocky Point Fire Department’s 9/11 Memorial. Colwell replaced the flag pole, renovated the existing memorial and made other improvements at Cathedral Pines County Park in Middle Island.

Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Town Tax Receiver Lou Marcoccia presented 
the scouts with awards.

“I congratulate Michael and John for completing their service projects andachieving the rank of Eagle Scout," Bonner said. "These exceptional young men are a credit to the community and we will look to them to be our leaders of tomorrow.”
